The number employed in learning to make brooms, was larger than during any previous year. About brooms were made; these were sold at prices varying from $1 25 to $2 00 per dozen; and through the active efforts of the Steward all have been sold promptly. This is now the only trade taught to our young men. Bead-work, knitting and plain sewing, are taught in the female depart ment, and the usual amount of work has been done.
