The aim has been to open up that system of dating which commends itself as most probably correct from the biblical perspective. Having done that he has looked for ways to harmonise the resultant scheme with the contradictory dates derived from the Assyrian Eponym Canon, and would like to think that he has succeeded in some measure in explaining how the discrepancies arose.
