Book excerpt: For ages 8-15. 'Off the Cuff' is a selection of brief stories with the words omitted. It is the job of the 'STORYTELLERS' to fill in the blank words as asked by the 'NARRATOR'. The 'NARRATOR' is the only person to see the story before it is completed. He or she will ask his colleagues to fill in the blanks as indicated in the text. The 'NARRATOR' will then read the story out loud with the completed blanks. The resulting story will be stupid, ridiculous and usually hilarious. This fun game can be played by two or more people at any time and in any place -- e.g. at a party, on a rainy day, on the beach, in a cafe or when travelling. It may be used as an aid to English Grammar for children in the 8+ age group as a fun way to learn the differences between nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.
