Book excerpt: Excerpt from Observations on the Diseases Incident to Seamen, Retired From Actual Service, by Reason of Accidents, Infirmities, or Old Age, Vol. 4 of 4 IT was my original intention to have en larged my Observations on the Diseases most frequent and fatal in this Hospital, had not the Medical History, or Monthly Statement of the Sick, with the cursory Remarks thereon, augmented the volume far beyond expectation; and obliged me to be more brief than many readers may approve. This deficiency, however, Should another Edition of the Work be found to be wanted, and please God to preserve me in health, I will endeavour to atone for, by adding'a Supplement to this Volume, or by dividing it into two Volumes; which, with very little ad dition will be sufficiently large.
