It is now intersected by railways - as many as nine lines cross Kansas - the buffaloes have been exterminated, the Indians are rare visitants, and may be said to have disappeared; and over their hunting-grounds, about which they were so anxious and appealed so passionately, there are scattered orderly and law-abiding white citizens.
