I know it deeply, and I hunger and thirst for it in my own marriage. Before I married, I grieved at my own thought life, so I gave my life over to God to forgive, cleanse and mentor me so I could marry a "daughter of God." Today, having been married 54 years, my wife and I have experienced a very satisfying marriage, and by God's grace, we have affected others. I greatly desire that many of the churches of our Lord would abound in healthy marriages. I long to see them training a whole generation of our children to enter the world as powerful soldiers of the Cross. The number of failed marriages, even among America's clergy, is a very sad matter. Rather than Christians' marriages being statistics that dishonor God, they could draw many to faith in Christ. God-honoring marriages should be shepherding another generation of vibrant believers. This book digs deeply into the Bible to uncover God's design for marriage. It probes Hebrew and Greek expressions to probe God's design for marriage, His instruction for choosing a mate, and His empowerment for living a marriage that displays God's love. It draws heavily from Genesis where God laid the principles for marriage. As early as Genesis 4 through 6 we see a pattern of marriage victory stretching over a thousand years! Did you notice? This lasted until the Sons of God began choosing their wives based on physical beauty as opposed to women who called on the Name of the Lord. This rejection of God-designed marriages led to wickedness that eventually brought God's judgment by the flood. The Word of God gives us teaching that can bring marriage into a divine harmony that delivers us from wickedness and God's judgment. This book is the product of decades of teaching college students and others God's design for marriage. It draws from Scripture and the personal experience of the author teaching and coaching married couples God's ways. Its many examples and stories give compelling evidence that God's ways work. Each of its chapters details a lesson used by the author when he taught weekly lessons. This book can serve as a tool for churches and Christian leaders to guide couples to solid marriages that last and bring glory to God. As couples grasp and truly commit to God's ways for marriages, ways that differ from those of the world, they will impact their families and others seeking solid marriages. To God be the glory for His amazing design for marriage.
