In a series of familiar letters, I intend to make an effort to agitate the public mind, on the all important subject of Elementary and Practical Education. I claim the indulgence of my readers; I have no pretensions to superiority of thought, what I would say, most of us know. My object is to draw public attention to a subject which is little attended to, probably from its being looked upon as too familiar; and like the elements of nature, earth, air, tire and water, as a matter of course, too commonplace, either to need investigation, or excite our interest.
