Book excerpt: The novel feature of this study is the combined use of satellite and numerical weather prediction model (NWP) data for improving the TAMSAT technique for hydrological purposes by using a non linear neural network based algorithm. The regions considered in this study include Zambia in south Africa and Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda in the horn of Africa.
