The analyses of natural' gas and 'limited evaluations of helium resources were begun in 1917. Over natural gas samples from wells and pipelines in the United States have been analyzed. Through 1987, of these analyses had been published in 32 Bureau publications, which are listed in the bibliography of this report. Helium occurs as a constituent ural gas, which is economical source.
