This story takes you through the time of World War II during the occupation of Holland. The Nazi's razzia into the Dutch people homes, and the terror and fear that came with these invasions. The impact on the families, not only with the Nazi's occupation but the challenges of living with stranger's in your home and the tragedy that accompanied this. Then Nelly takes us through her journey as she courts and then finally meets the man of her dreams. Only to have this man tell her that he has applied to immigrate to Canada and has an appointment at the Canadian Consulate to process his paperwork. She then tells her family that she is moving to Canada. Nelly and Andre arrive in Canada with $40 in their pocket and not knowing a sole. First order of business, is finding a room to rent for the night. Their story starts off by working hard, starting their own business, stand off with the mob, and finally raising a family and a successful life.
