It contains accounts from the source, construction, and culture of the ancient Lacustrine habitations of Ireland, as illustrated by their remains and the antiquities found in or around them to the description and geographical distribution of all known Lacustrine locations in Ireland. Though Wood-Martin became a member of the Royal Irish Academy in 1883, and both published with and presented to that respective body, his association with the Royal Historical and Archaeological Association of Ireland dominated his antiquarian career.
