Heavy grazing denudes the banks of proteo tive vegetation, and plowing the land next to the edge of the bank loosens the soil. This speeds up bank cutting by high water. As banks are undercut, large trees on the edge topple over and cause damage by diverting currents and forming holes in the bank.
