Over one hundred years later, cultural anthropologist, Sarah Jacobs discovers fragments of information about Gordon. Stagnant in her career, she becomes curious about Gordon and how this broken man transformed his life. Her own grandfather struggled over his lifetime with PTSD. Sarah travels to Kenya, where Gordon Powell settled after the war, to recreate Gordon’s story from the few pieces of the puzzle she has. In the wilds of Kenya, Sarah meets Jack Powell, Gordon’s great grandson, who runs a struggling safari camp with his sister. Despite a rocky start, Jack agrees to help Sarah in her search. As they uncover a transformative and heartrending romance between Gordon and an English aristocrat, past and present collide as romance blooms between Sarah and Jack. When a journalist unexpectedly shows up at the camp, his idea for a story may jeopardize the budding relationship between Sarah and Jack as well as the camp’s future.
