She was the great-granddaughter of Thomas Corker, Jr. and Seniora Doll, Duchess of Sherbro. She was educated in England. She moved to South Carolina in 1764. She married William Hardcastle in 1771. Includes a history of trials concerning her estate which she left to her niece, Catherine Clevland, which the court would not allow her to inherit because of her color.
