Book excerpt: Excerpt from War Records It has been the desire of the School of Mines and Metallurgy to set down in this booklet the record of its members who engaged in military service during the Great War, hoping in this way to put into permanent form interest ing and valuable data that would otherwise soon be lost. Doubtless there are errors and omissions but the records have been compiled only after great care and diligent inquiry. The part taken by our men is inspiring and is a credit to themselves and the institution. It is in commemoration of their services that this Bulletin is put forth and dedicated to them by their Alma Mater. When the conflict burst upon us in April, 1917, four members of the Faculty and sixty-one students left school to enter the First Officers Training Camp. Other students went into organizations that were being recruited to war strength and still others waited for the draft.
