The characters of the modern play parallel characters from the ancient Greek plays. For example, Agamemnon from the Oresteia becomes General Ezra Mannon. Clytemnestra becomes Christine, Orestes becomes Orin, etc. The play features murder, adultery, incestuous love, and revenge like the Greek tragedy.
