The feather duster is still avail able, though goose quills have gone out of style. During the war, large quantities of feathers were suitably dyed and applied to sur faces for camouflage purposes. They were also processed to yield feather fibers, which proved to be acceptable extenders of down for sleeping bags. These fibers will also be used in some of the newer textiles But the greatest volume of feathers is used in pillows. Quilts, comforters, and upholstery.
